George Orwell finished his iconic novel 1984 in the fall of 1948. At the time it was thought to be an interesting piece of well written scifi. So let’s look at some of the quotes in the book and see how they stack up to life in 2014 America.
(1) “In our age there is no such thing as ‘keeping out of politics.’ All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.” Well…. That could very well be a very apt description of politics in Washington these days. Here is a few examples:
